THE JOURNEY AHEAD
Blended Learning: an approach to learning that combines face-to-face and online learning experiences. Ideally, both online and offline learning will complement the other by using its particular strengths. In this model, online technology is used to not just supplement, but transform and improve the learning process. Blended Learning will be used at St. Gabriel’s both while on campus and if we experience rolling closures, thus ensuring continuity of educational delivery regardless of format.
Distance Learning: an approach to learning in which the physical separation of teachers and students during instruction and the use of various technologies to facilitate student-teacher and student-student communication are necessitated by the presence of COVID-19 high-risk health conditions. This approach will be used should the School be required to close campus for any length of time.
Synchronous Remote Learning: a style of learning which occurs live and in real time supported by video conferencing solutions like Zoom and Google Meet. Synchronous Remote Learning allows a student to engage in classroom activities and with the majority of their classmates in the classrooms during periods of time at home. To opt into this approach at any time during the 2020-2021 school year, families must first speak with their Division Head.
Hybrid Learning Plan: This approach will be implemented only if conditions and local authorities dictate a restricted percentage of students that may be on campus at any given time. The priority of this plan will be to ensure as much in-person time for our youngest students and a rotation model for our older students.
