Middle School Campus Plan 2021-2022

In-person Learning

We will welcome our full student population on campus without social distancing or synchronous remote learning this year. If you or your child is diagnosed with (or exposed to) COVID, they will have the opportunity to receive their assignments asynchronously from their teachers via mySGCS, so that they can complete these activities independently from home. 


MySGCS will serve as the main resource to access your child’s schedule, assignments, and other materials that your child’s teacher may post. Our teachers will post all assignments for the week to mySGCS by Sunday night of the week prior. Your child’s advisor will also be the primary point of contact and will send weekly emails with upcoming dates as well as reminders to check mySGCS. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s advisor with any questions.

General Information

The St. Gabriel’s School website, mySGCS, and the weekly Messenger are the hubs for all communication. Further, advisors will communicate weekly through email, and teachers will post upcoming assignments on mySGCS each week.


  • Students will be academically evaluated with our current grading system.

  • Teachers will also evaluate each student’s social and emotional behavior using our Learning Behavior and Social Expectations (LSBEs), which are directly linked to the five social-emotional learning domains, as well as the Cardinal Virtues.


  • 1:1 ratio with each student receiving a chromebook.

  • Teachers utilize mySGCS to post assignments.

  • Teachers utilize a number of resources to further enrich the curriculum including the Google Suite of products, Flipgrid, Nearpod, Padlet, etc.

Lockers and Backpacks

  • Each student will be given the use of a locker for the year. Please see the handbook for locker guidelines.

  • Students will leave their books and backpacks in their lockers. They will not need to carry their backpacks around. Please see the handbook for appropriate backpacks.

Cell Phones

  • Cell phones are not allowed to be used during the school day from 7:15-3:45pm. If you need to contact your child, please call the middle school office.

  • Students will leave their cell phones in their lockers, on silent or powered off the whole day.

Carpool Procedures

  • Middle school carpool begins at 3:40 p.m. Please do not arrive earlier. Students will not be allowed to come down until carpool begins.

  • We will continue with silent carpool dismissal.

  • If you need to pick up your child before dismissal, then please plan to do so by 3:00 p.m.

All-School Mass and Special Events

  • We are currently Mask Optional in all spaces, including large gatherings.

Field Trips

Right now, we are planning on field trips this year, and the vendors we usually go to are open to having students attend.  Details for grade-level trips will be forthcoming from homeroom teachers and advisors as the dates approach.  We will adhere to the health guidelines required by the sites we are visiting and share those with you ahead of time.  If you do not feel comfortable sending your child on a given field trip for any reason, your child will be given an excused absence that day to remain home.  Please stay in contact with your teacher or advisor and your Division Head.
